by Jiya
Rahman

Jiya Rahman is a professional artist based in Québec who creates large semi-abstract paintings like objects, landscapes and wildlife paintings in acrylic on canvas. Her painting style is very distinct and often fuses art-nouveau, impressionist and semi-abstract techniques with traditional portraiture that reflect her love of nature, animals, flora and fauna and the landscapes around her. Her paintings often reflect the magical elements that ordi objects might have. Her main working method has been the development of a painting style she terms ‘memory impressionism’. This method involves going walking somewhere, looking at and absorbing the things she sees and experiences, and then returning home to her studio to try and capture an echo or essence of the impressions from her memory. By this method, she captures precise moments in times at different seasons and the feeling she has about them. Juya completed a fine art degree in Quebec in 2008 and has painted since she was three.

Nicole Martinelli is an artist, and a Photographer originally from the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, who recently relocated to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area where she finds inspiration in the surrounding mountains and rural areas for her latest creations. The cascades of colors and vivid images She features in both her Digital paintings and photographs are a direct representation of the bold, immutable, beautiful feelings she experiences while initially viewing and during the initial creation of the subject matter and scenery for her artworks. She as An artist feels that they actually choose her. Nicole as an artist feels that it is her obligation of capturing and creating beauty and the healing power and comfort of nature and creating artworks that encourage us to appreciate nature, and our environment and to also preserve it. As a Digital artist I am essentially using my stylist as my brush and my laptop and tablet as if it were my Canvas. I believe in advancing with the current times using this technology to my advantage but, not being used by the technology. Having a hands on approach every step of the creative process is essential to myself personally as an artist. I see technology and this new artistic medium for myself as simply a new exciting creative opportunity due to feeling less constriction being it’s a new avenue, I have not fully travelled. As a new opportunity to push past my own boundaries as Artist I had previously imposed and created upon myself. It’s an opportunity to be able to explore and express myself with endless possibilities . I view this new artistic medium for myself as a new form of creative expression as an artist. There is a freeing feeling I feel while exploring this newer artistic avenue, There are no boundaries imposed and the potential is limitless .’ ‘During these difficult times in society and the ever changing world we are all currently living in. One thing that never changes is the solitude, comfort, and beauty nature offers us all.” I for one have always been captivated by the peace and beauty nature offers. It is the Main focal point of my artworks and art is my refuge . During the storms we may be presented with in our lives there is always a stream to catch your tears and a sunset to brighten your life.” “If I can inspire, awaken, make the viewer think, bring solace, peace, and happiness to others as I have found myself while creating, then I have achieved my artistic goal.” -Nicole Martinelli Nicole Martinelli, the Artist and photographer Photographs and digital painting artworks have been recognized and featured in multiple juried group exhibitions in prominent fine art galleries throughout the United States The Artist is currently being exhibited and featured in Marble head arts association Gallery in Marble Head, Massachusetts, and Kavanaugh Gallery St. Charles Illinois as well as Vestige Concept Gallery Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and an upcoming exhibition at CORE Art space, Denver Colorado.
