Thomas Crauwels is a modern, romantic artist with a mission. His passion for the Alps along with his ardent desire to preserve their memory permeates his entire work.
His recognisable and distinctive style has won him many Swiss and international awards. His quest for excellence is a testament to his heartfelt, intimate connection with the Alps.
Mother Nature is always the principal creative artist, she sets the tone and dictates the atmosphere. Invited in for a few moments, Crauwels waits for that perfect instant – mysterious, timeless and almost mystical.
Thomas Crauwels takes us on a truly grandiose journey. Through an emotionally uplifting experience of the beauty and majesty of the snow-clad ice giants, his works transport us to a pristine place, somewhere between heaven and earth.
His art speaks to lovers of mountains and Alpine peaks who wish to preserve and contemplate the beauty of these towering summits so that one day they can, in their turn, hand down a fragment of it to future generations.
Like those magical moments that are so rarely revealed, Thomas Crauwels’ photographs are available only in limited series or unique pieces.

Аrt for some people is a hobby, for others – a profession or possibly something else. For me it is a part of life, which gives me pleasure as a hobby and self-affirmation as a profession. Whenever some piece of work is a success, I feel so uplifted and proud, that it can be compared with a feeling a person might have after being promoted. Process of creation is also an opportunity to share one’s thoughts, topics, outlooks, to talk about the things that worry, interest and move. Apart from that, making a painting, a drawing or a sculpture is a way of distracting from routine life problems. This feeling can be compared with a trip, when all trivial stuff is left behind, and something new, unknown, exciting is waiting for you. And you can find it in ordinary things, activities, people. Art provides an opportunity to see usual things in a completely different way. Based on the image, an artist adds some personal vision, applying feelings and emotions to the artwork, pulling the spectators in. And the last but not least, it’s so great to feel oneself a creator!

Je peins à l’acrylique de manière figurative, jusqu’à l’hyperréalisme. Mon art semble à la fois fidèle au visible et en harmonie avec un ressenti que je cherche à magnifier pour le transmettre.
La recherche porte souvent sur la lumière indirecte qui confère au motif un climat particulier. Là apparaît une constante de mon travail: une attraction vers les contrastes, que ce soit dans la luminosité (clair-obscur), les formes (douces collines et arêtes effilées) ou les atmosphères (tons chauds-froids).
